Synopsis for "The Child-Man and the Great White Hero"

Hal Jordan visits John Stewart on the Mosaic. Both Green Lanterns have feelings for Rose Hardin, an earth woman who became trapped on the Mosaic world. Hal believes that John has used mind-control on Rose, because she refused when he offered to take she and her son Toby back to earth, because she wanted to help John bring stability to the patchwork cities on Oa.

Despite Rose's professions that she chose to stay of her own accord, the Lanterns come to blows. Of course, the collateral damage is significant, and Rose begs them to stop fighting, for the sake of her house's continued existence. The Lanterns instead stage their battle in their minds. Hal plays upon John's guilt and insecurities, breaking his will. Hal mocks what he perceives as John's childishness, but he finds himself attacked by the more mature aspects of John's personality. Hal underestimates the multifaceted nature of John Stewart's personality, and winds up at a standstill. John manages to show, in some way, that Hal is wrong to want Rose for himself. John challenges Hal to question his own anger. Hal is emotionally beaten, and John knocks him down with one punch.

Hal agrees to back off, and he and John part ways as friends. Meanwhile, John knows that sometimes Rose will still dream of Hal romantically in the same way that he dreams of himself as Hal, but in the end, the both of them will wake up to John Stewart.
