Synopsis for "Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters"

Green Lanterns Hal Jordan, Sinestro, and Kilowog attend to Abin Sur's funeral on Oa, arranged by his son, Amon Sur. As Hal and Amon exchange words, an ancient race of sentient robots called the Manhunters attack the planet, blasting at everything on sight. During the invasion, Amon Sur is wounded. Hal tries to help him, but Amon tells him to go perform his duty defending Oa. Sinestro orders Hal to fly to the source of the Manhunters' beam weapon and destroy it easily. Hal realizes that the invasion must be a diversion, and Sinestro confirms it when he informs that the real target is the Central Battery, the device that powers the rings of the Corps.

Upon arriving at the battery, Hal sees the rings of the fallen Green Lanterns flying off to their new bearers. A Guardian contacts Hal through his ring and informs him that there's a vault hidden beneath the battery, which has been breached by the Manhunters. When Hal accesses the vault, he finds a Central Battery that empowers the Yellow Energy of Fear, and some Manhunters are siphoning it. After seeing the Green Lantern of Earth, the robots escape, receiving orders from Biot their home world.

With the invasion stopped, a distress call from Queen Aga'po of Zamaron reaches Oa. Manhunters imbued with Yellow Energy are attacking her planet. Hal and Sinestro head to Zamaron to support the Queen. The Guardians have order Killowog to fly to Biot to discover why they have stolen the yellow fear energy. Willhunters attack the Zamarons and take control of Aga'po's corrupting her with Fear Energy. The Manhunters now aim to steal the Violet Energy of Love at the Hall of Knowledge, and Hal fights the corrupted Queen to free her from their control.

With Zamaron free of the Manhunters and the Fear Energy, Hal returns to the Guardians, who reveal that Kilowog has been captured on Biot but they need all remaining Lanterns to return and prepare for war. Unable to trust them, Hal disobeys, and flies straight to Biot to save his friend, ignoring their commands. Sinestro, who also suspects of a traitor among them, agrees with Hal.

While advancing through the Manhunters' world, Hal confronts and defeats the Grandmaster, and he learns that Amon Sur is the traitor and mastermind behind both attacks on Oa and Zamaron. Hal finds Kilowog strapped into a powerful Manhunter weapon denominated Highmaster, specifically designed to combat the Green Lantern Corps. Amon Sur appears, revealing that his lust for power lead him to envy his father's ring, and now he plans to conquer Oa using the Fear Energy. Amon activates the Highmaster to keep Hal distracted while he travels to Oa to carry on his next attack. Jordan destroys the weapon and saves Kilowog, then both Green Lanterns return to Oa.

Using a staff empowered by Fear Energy and his army of Manhunters, Amon wreaks havok in Oa. Hal fights through hordes of Manhunters and defeats Amon in a battle where both men display their full force. With Amon stopped, Hal destroys the staff of power and imprisons him. At the Citadel, the Guardians congratulate all three Lanterns for their service, even Hal Jordan. Although reckless and insubordinate, Hal has the making to becoming the greatest Green Lantern of all.
