Synopsis for "Showdown"

John's mother reads a story to his daughter, Ellie, who is, in reality, a construct created by John. Ellie is content and happy. Meanwhile, John, Shepherd, and the remaining survivors of the Green Lanterns from the United Planets are locked in battle against the Radiant Queen and her army of the dead. One by one, the others fall, leaving only John and Shepherd standing together against the overwhelming threat.

One of the United Planets Green Lanterns, mortally wounded, severs his arm and commands his ring to warn the others of what has transpired here. Shortly after, Shepherd is also fatally injured. His ring, which is inhabited by a version of Kyle Rayner, believes all hope is lost, but John refuses to accept this. Desperate to save his comrade, he flees with Shepherd, determined to preserve his life.

Using the light of his ring, John constructs a protective barrier and begins the process of healing Shepherd's broken body. Suddenly, the Revenant Queen reveals herself to them. She claims to have been many people, to have inhabited multiple hosts, including John's wife in another universe. However, her true identity is the lingering essence of Olgrun, one of the First World.

The Revenant Queen drags John into the depths of the earth, leaving Shepherd watching in horror as his ally is pulled beneath.

Back at John's mother's home, Ellie, his construct, grows anxious. She looks out the window and sees a dark, ominous light. She senses that John won't be returning anytime soon.
