Green Lantern Annual (Volume 3) with a cover date of July, 1992.
Synopsis for "Diamond Rings"
On Oa, Kilowog trains the new Green Lantern recruits when he suddenly notices Amanita, with his cosmic awareness, warning them about "something hunting Green Lanterns."
On Earth, Eclipso continues his hunt for Earth's heroes, and he controls the eclipsed Starman to find Green Lantern in New York. He eventually finds Guy Gardner in Times Square and easily possesses him with his Black Diamond. However, Guy has no ring, so Eclipso only uses his memories and access to the Justice League Embassy to search for the other Green Lantern: Hal Jordan.
In a motel in Los Angeles, Carol Ferris wakes up frightened from a nightmare where she turns into Star Sapphire and kills Katma Tui and Hal Jordan. Hal tries to calm her down, realizing that Sapphire's personality hides inside Carol. Hal leaves her to sleep again, and he goes for a walk.
Outside, Guy reaches the motel and plants his Black Diamond in front of Carol's door. When she wakes up and finds the Diamond, Eclipso lets Star Sapphire come to the surface, but both personalities fight to control her body. Eclipso wants Hal Jordan to add him to his army, but Star Sapphire wants to kill Hal. Unable to find Hal in the motel, Star Sapphire flies to Ferris Aircraft and destroys the facility, luring Hal Jordan to fight her. During the battle, Eclipso uses Starman to trick and incapacitate Hal. Kilowog attempts to contact him through his ring, but Hal doesn't respond.
Meanwhile, Bruce Gordon and Mona Bennett arrive at Ferris following Eclipso's trail. They encounter Guy Gardner and free him from Eclipso using the solar ray guns. However, they lose track of Eclipso, who took Star Sapphire and Starman away from the scene.
In Beverly Hills, the Green Lantern Corps arrive and attack Star Sapphire. Suddenly, Hal Jordan comes to the fight. However, Eclipso uses Hal to beat Star Sapphire and incapacitate her personality, gaining complete control of her body. Now with two super-beings under his command, Eclipso overcomes the Green Lanterns. Still, the Lanterns prove to be too much for Eclipso, so he causes both Hal and Sapphire to create a massive explosion, blasting everyone to the ground.
When everybody wakes up, they find no trace of Hal or Star Sapphire. Kilowog heads to the Justice League Embassy to look for Hal. After the Green Lanterns leave, Eclipso's hosts emerge from the debris, having learned to use Hal's ring to conceal their presence from the other ring-wielders. They retreat, and Eclipso stores them for the next phase of his plan.
