Synopsis for "Precious"
A traveler named Prentice finds a mysterious door floating in space. He enters, and the green glow of a power battery catches his attention. When he's about to grab it, a woman still in sleepwear surprises and threatens him at gunpoint. Prentice convinces her to lower the gun and talk it through. After changing clothes to something more suitable, the girl presents as Giselle. Prentice hypnotizes her into revealing information about the battery, and she says that its owner is her mentor: the wizard and Green Lantern Torquemada. After hearing enough from Giselle, Prentice leaves her in a trance and takes the battery. However, Torquemada makes his entrance from the shadows and faces the thief. Prentice reveals he's a wizard from the Yellow Circle and uses his yellow magic to fight the Green Lantern. During a moment of distraction, Prentice grabs Giselle and uses her as a hostage to force Torquemada into giving up his ring. Not content with his spoils, Prentice decides to take Giselle with him, but Torquemada warns him not to do it. Despite Torquemada's warning, Giselle claims it's the only way to get over this situation. She turns and kisses Prentice on the lips, but the touch turns the thief into a golden statue. It turns out Giselle carries a curse of a Golden Kiss: whatever touches her lips transforms into gold. Giselle has been living with Torquemada to find a way to cure her and revert the effects. As Torquemada hugs the crying girl to comfort her, Prentice becomes a new addition to a collection of golden statues.

Synopsis for "The Best Choice"
A widowed woman takes her kids to a frozen lake. Suddenly, the ice breaks and one of the girls falls into the water. Tying a rope around her waist so the other children can bring her up, Donna jumps to the rescue. At the bottom, she finds a glowing ring, and she's compelled to put it on. Unbeknownst to her, this strange ring helps her complete her task by pointing the way toward her daughter and allowing here to break a new whole through the ice to go to the surface. When the family reunites, times seems to stop, and Donna meets a Guardian from the planet Oa. The strange man claims that he's responsible for planting the ring in the bottom of the river and setting up her daughter's falling into the river as part of a test. The Guardian offers her a place in the Green Lantern Corps as Earth's protector. Donna is tempted to accept to prevent any new war like the one that claimed her husband's life. But she ultimately declines the offer, deciding to stay with her children. The Guardian fails to comprehend Donna's decision to give up such an opportunity for "love," and he releases the stasis, returning Donna to her kids.
