Green Lantern Corps Quarterly #7 is an issue of the series Green Lantern Corps Quarterly (Volume 1) with a cover date of January, 1994.

Synopsis for "Horrors"

There was a time when the Guardians of the Universe were still young, and rather than entrusting their endeavors to others, waged their own wars and fought their own battles. During this time, they seeked to wipe out all chaotic magic across the universe and wipe away its evils. One of their greatest battles was on Ysmault against the Empire of Tears, where they triumphed. All energies mystical or magical, both good and evil, were compressed within the pith of a star... the Starheart. For millennia, it slowly gained strength and sentience, until its benevolent portion wished to create a champion using its energies. It gave its energies to the Green Lantern Yalan Gur, absolving him from his pain while he died on Earth. Later, the energies were found by Alan Scott, who harnessed them with a ring and a power battery and used them to fight evil.

Later, Alan Scott is at home on Halloween, with his wife and his children Jade and Obsidian discussing his recent de-aging, and why he's so young and fit. They receive a knock on the door from Torquemada of the Green Lantern Corps, who tells Alan he needs his help fighting the evil chaotic magicks in the universe. Torquemada shows Alan a number of the horrors he speaks of.

Synopsis for "Ashes to Ashes"

Green Lantern Ash patrols his homeworld, and stops cannibalistic assailants from killing a helpless victim in the streets. He finds that the leader of the "Longteeth" he is fighting is the same man who killed his wife years ago. Enraged, he gets overly confident and his ring fingers are lopped off with a blade. Bleeding out, he beats the attacker down anyway, picks up his ring, and blasts him to pieces with it. After avenging his wife, he seems ready to retire from the Green Lantern Corps and stop fighting. The victim he saved convinces him that even if he's tired of hunting down longteeth, he's still the only protector the world has, and the power he alone can control still saves lives everyday.

Synopsis for "Green Hell"

Green Lantern Barin, a slug-like warrior, has been assigned as his sector to the Gates of Hell, where his daily duty is to fight Demons and prevent them from escaping the netherworld. Although he no longer grows physically older, his advanced years make it difficult to continue his battle. Still, refusing to falter even the slightest, Barin fights on everyday as is his mission. Still, he prays that someday the Guardians of the Universe will relieve him from his fight.

It is revealed later that Barin is not actually an active Green Lantern at all. Ambushed by space-mongrels, he lies in a comatose state on Oa and the battles in Hell are merely hallucinations of his own mind. His recruiter Boodikka laments that he could've been a great Green Lantern if he had been called up when he was a more mature fighter, instead of being crippled by rookie mistakes. Trapped in his own mind, Barin fights on.

A brutal, paranoid and tyrannical leader, Ayria abused his authority and killed many. He ordered the mass holocaust of the underground movement that had risen against his power, and committed nearly global genocide. Eventually, one of his consorts betrayed him and swallowed his ring for herself, removing his power. Synopsis for "The Starheart"

Alan Scott and Torquemada finally arrive at the troubled Starheart. Entering it, they find its guardian, M'la brutally tortured and murdered. Looking for the source of the violence, they find that the evil part of the Starheart has gained sentience as well, and is plotting to spread chaos throughout the universe. Rather than allow his family to come to harm, Alan Scott faces off against the immortal power from which his own abilities stem, believing he can use the Starheart's own energies against itself. Although he rends the personification of the Starheart limb from limb, it still defeats him and escapes from its imprisonment. Torquemada worries about what effect this will have on the universe, although he still managed to retain a portion of the magic trapped in his crystal ball. Alan Scott swears to protect the universe from any evils yet to come from the rampaging Starheart.
