Synopsis for "Close Encounters"
In 1944, Abin Sur follows an escaped alien mercenary called Dask N'oir to Earth, who wants to sell his weapons and service to the Nazi Party. The German soldiers, however, terrified by the "demon," start to fire at Dask N'oir, drawing the attention of Mystery-Men Green Lantern and The Flash. The alien mercenary overpowers both Earth heroes, as well as Abin Sur, from whom he takes his ring.
Abin Sur recuperates from Dask's attacks and notices Alan Scott's ring, which has similar properties to his lost ring, except that it is invulnerable to yellow. Thus, Abin borrows it and uses the green flame to track and defeat Dask N'oir. After taking care of the mercenary, Abin Sur retrieves his ring and the alien weaponry, and makes sure that there no evidence of extraterrestrial activity on Earth, including in the memories of Flash and Green Lantern. After returning Alan's ring to its owner, Abin Sur leaves Earth, looking forward to the day he can return to fight by the heroes' sides, or to choose a successor. When they wake up, Alan notices his ring is in the wrong hand.

Synopsis for "Bad Intentions"
A Guardian recruits Probert "The Bad One" into the Green Lantern Corps to stop the current ring-wielder of his sector, Kkrudd, who abused his power and set himself as a monarch. To convince Probert, the Guardian shows him that Kkrudd kidnapped, Poola Sidd, an old acquaintance of his and turned her into his concubine. However, Probert rejects the ring and power battery, and sets off to confront Kkrudd by himself. Probert breaks into Kkrudd's castle, but the ring-bearer forces Probert to retreat and take refuge in another room. Fortunately for him, Probert stumbles into Kkrudd's power battery, and he manages to use the power to his advantage. Probert defeats Kkrudd, cuts his ring finger off, and rescues Poola. The Guardian appears again to take Kkrudd to custody, taking the ring and power battery with him, and tells Probert that there will be no repossession of the power, and that they'll keep his services on retainer.

With the Green Lantern unable to defend himself due to the yellow impurity, Lobo defeats Jack and cuts his ring-finger off.
