Synopsis for "Inside Some Other Skies!"

After being sucked by a black hole, the Green Lanterns reappear on the other side of the universe, on what was Sector 872. Being too far to return to Earth, they have no other choice than to keep going forward.

Meanwhile, on Earth, Hal Jordan gets a job offer for the Drumman Team company. However, when he's about to accept, the contractor tells him they have the quota for test pilots filled, and they can't take him. Hal starts to suspect Mr. Smith is behind it.

The Green Lanterns continue their travel until they reach an inhabited planet. The residents render themselves invisible and attack them. Their power rings are useless against them because the hostiles bend their blasts around them, making it impossible to hit them. One by one, the Lanterns get incapacitated. John wills his light to respond to sub-atomic levels so that the light turns to matter when it reaches their force fields. The defeated hostiles turn visible, and the Green Lanterns land on the planet. The plant-like Olapet falls withered to the ground, apparently dying. Her ring comes off of her frond and enters her bag, and a smaller Olapet comes out wearing the ring. This new Olapet grabs a seed from its mother and plants it in the bag, continuing the cycle.

While the Green Lanterns marvel at Olapet's capacity to preserve herself, Kilowog analyzes the world they are standing in and claims it is perfect for rebuilding his society. He explains that his planet, Bolovax Vik, lived in harmony. The Crisis destroyed his world, but Kilowog survived, and his ring preserved everyone's minds. Since then, he's been looking for a perfect planet to rebuild his society. He askes for his comrades' help, and they agree to aid him on his task.

Days pass, and they all work together to bring the barren planet to optimum conditions, recreating those of Bolovax Vik. With the hard work completed, Kilowog wills his ring to restore everyone his brethren, even though not in a physical form. Filled with joy, Kilowog reunites with his people as his comrades happily watch him. Unfortunately, and without any warning, the planet explodes. Kilowog panics, saying that his ring didn't absorb their minds this time. Floating between the rubble, the Green Lanterns watch in horror as they discover the perpetrator: Sinestro.
