The Green Lantern Honor Guard is an elite group of Green Lanterns not restricted to one Sector.

History

They are based on Oa, and their role was to protect the Guardians of the Universe. The first Honor Guard consisted of Tomar-Re, K'ryssma and Apros.[1] Sadly, the group suffered a loss during the Crisis on Infinite Earths when Tomar-Re was killed by Goldface.[2] After the Crisis, the Guardians retreated along with the Zamarons to another dimension, and they assigned the Honor Guard to accompany their delegate and former Guardian Appa Ali Apsa to Maltus.[3]

Years later, after the rebirth of the Corps, Guy Gardner was appointed as Honor Guard, serving as a flexible trouble-shooter, aiding any sector in need and has also served in a leadership role during battle.[4] Kyle Rayner was later added to the Honor Guard after he passed on his duties as Ion.[5]

As Protocol Lantern, Salakk was also a member of Honor Guard.[6] He retained his rank even after stepping down as Protocol Lantern.[7]

John Stewart, Soranik Natu, Ganthet, Hannu, Boodikka were promoted to Green Lantern Honor Guard after they freed the Grendians and Alpha Lanterns from Cyborg Superman.[8]
