Synopsis for "The Invincible Foe"

Janel and Lord Hedron, the leaders of two warring species, join forces to get revenge on the one person that humiliated them: Green Lantern. To that end, they create the Seeker, a robot designed to hunt the emerald hero.

After his incident with Lord Malvolio, Hal Jordan returns to Earth, namely to the Elite Design Consultants. Suddenly, a Guardian communicates with him, urging Hal to head to Oa and take Chip with him. On the Citadel, the Guardian commands Hal Jordan to kill the former Green Lantern known as Priest. Hal protests against it, saying he is his friend. The Guardian then grabs Chip and forces Hal to decide between the lives of two friends. Hal flies off, trying to figure out a way out of this situation.

Back in outer space, on his way to find Priest, Green Lantern encounters the Seeker robot. However, before it could attack, a meteor hits the Seeker, seemingly destroying it. Hal then reunites with Priest and explains the situation. To his surprise, Priest tells Hal that he should carry on his assignment and kill him, saying his death will serve the greater good. Suddenly, the Seeker, which repaired itself, attacks again, and this time Hal destroys it. However, the Seekers golden central module resists Green Lantern's attacks, and it repairs itself, learning from its previous encounters.

Hal Jordan escapes to a nebula, but the reformed Seeker, now made entirely of gold, catches up to him and grabs Green Lantern. Before executing its target, a monitor comes out of the Seeker's chest, revealing a recorded message of its creator, Janel. Green Lantern blasts through the screen and makes the Seeker explode from the inside. Hal flies off immediately to Selsia V to confront the Seeker's creator.

Meanwhile, Hedron also arrives at Selsia V to confront Janel about the Seeker, which has left a trail of destruction on his hunt for Green Lantern.

Near Selsia V, the now-bigger Seeker attacks Green Lantern again, destroying Selsia's moon in the crossfire. Green Lantern attempts to stop the asteroids from falling on the planet, but the Seeker shoots him down. On the surface, Hedron demands Janel to recall the robot and stop its senseless destruction. However, Janel locks Hedron in a room with the new Seeker II, killing him. Shortly after, Green Lantern crashes into Janel's building and confronts him. Janel lets the Seeker II free to attack its target, but the original Seeker comes looking for Green Lantern and destroys both the Seeker II and Janel. When the Seeker is about to finish Green Lantern, Priest shows up with the solution: taking out Hal Jordan's ring so the robot couldn't sense his aura, deactivating itself. Priest then solidifies the gases around the robot and throws it into a black hole.

The two lanterns discuss how to carry on with the Guardian's decision, and Hal decides to take him to Oa instead of killing him. Hal backs his decision saying that Priest is the more indispensable and that he can't stop the Guardian from killing Chip. Priest deems the lesson is over and causes the illusion of Oa and the Guardian to fade away, taking Hal and Chip to the real Oa. He explains that he tested Hal Jordan to see if his confrontation with Malvolio corrupted his judgment. However, Chip is far from happy with Hal's decision to sacrifice his friend, and they split ways.
