Synopsis for "The Big Braintrust Boom!"

Hal Jordan learns that Hector Hammond has been released from jail and is now a cult leader. Inside the penitentiary where he's supposed to be locked, the warden tells Green Lantern that Hammond was released for good behaviour, and left in the company of two employees of Braintrust, Inc. Hal is certain that Hammond must have used his powers to force his release, and decides to investigate.

Meanwhile, Oliver Queen heads to the same company, Braintrust, Inc., to sign an advertising contract. However, he arrives late, and the contract has been awarded to another man. After throwing a tantrum, Oliver gets kicked out of the building.

Hal and Oliver meet and get up to date with the events, and decide to investigate Hammond's connection in all this. Green Lantern sneaks in Braintrust, Inc. and finds a document that shows the company contributes heavily to Hammond's cult. The guards come after him, and he uses his fists to fight them off at first, but decides to use his ring when reinforcements arrive. However, his ring rebels against him, but he manages to out-will it and break free. Meanwhile, Oliver attends Hector Hammond's cult, the "Spark of Divinity Mission." A speaker tells the attendant to reject the materialism and become humanists to attain Nirvana, and they give him all their material goods.

After having dinner with Jim Jordan, Hal's brother, Oliver finds out that Jim is the man that earned Braintrust, Inc's contract, and Hal learns that the company's connection with the Mission is already widely known. Later that night, the emerald heroes decide to approach the Mission directly. Inside, they find out Hammond is working with Bill Baggett, who posed as Braintrust's manager. Their plan is to exert their control worldwide control through the religious cult. Green Lantern and Green Arrow manage to defeat the foes by charging Oliver's body with ring energy, making him powerful enough to resist Hammond's telepathy and incapacitate him, and Hal bests Bagget in a contest of wills. With the foes beat, the emerald duo end the night with a serving of chili.
