- Those blue skins sit on a planet so far away that the light from it won't reach us for generations and they tell you what to do about Earth? Does that make sense?
Green Lantern (Volume 2) #104 is an issue of the series Green Lantern (Volume 2) with a cover date of May, 1978.
Synopsis for "Proof Of The Peril!"
Green Arrow trains Air Wave II some combat techniques to distract him from the scene inside Carol Ferris' house: Itty, the little alien friend that Hal Jordan brought to Earth, lies immobile for days, and they presume he's dead. The mourning heroes bury their late friend, and Green Arrow, determined to fulfill Itty's wishes for them to carry on, decides to investigate professor Ezra Drok and his experiments. Hal claims that the professor hasn't committed any crime yet, so he refuses to act, leaving Oliver alone on the case.
Green Arrow attends a protest against Drok's experiments, where he also finds the trainee Air Wave. Like Oliver expected, the doc's operation ends up in chaos, as some unknown purple matter comes flying out of the lab and a stream of oil spurts out of the ground. Green Lantern, who kept an eye on the situation from a distance, sees the purple things flying off. He tries to contain them with his Power Ring, but he can't due to the yellow energy surrounding them. He follows the swarm to Coast City, where the flying lights cause the water mains to burst out of the street. The swarm fly above Itty's grave, and a figure starts to rise from the dirt.
Meanwhile, back in the lab, Green Arrow confronts professor Drok, who demands ten million dollars in gold before he shuts down the experiment. Green Lantern arrives and directly shuts the machine off, then asks the professor how to contain the purple things. But Drok doesn't even know what they are either. So Green Lantern sets off to improvise, grabbing a ton of dirt and encasing the purple things with it, causing a chain reaction that destroys them.
Later that night, the heroes reunite at Carol Ferris' mansion, unaware of a creeping lump of dirt approaching the house.
