Synopsis for "Master of the Power Ring!"
Acting as chairpersons for a charity bazaar, gives Carol Ferris an opportunity to spend more time with Green Lantern. While out working in the Kalahari desert, clearing sand that poses a threat to development, in doing so he uncovers a strange meteor which he brings back with him to Coast City to be examined. While on a dinner date with Carol, Hal spots a meteor on a collision course with Earth, and stops it. While in space he spots another meteor which he takes with him back to Earth. His date with Carol is interrupted once again when a news bulletin about a deadly radiation from the planet Jupiter may threaten the Jupiter probe. Going off into space once more, Hal detects the source: yet another meteor, which he takes and brings back with him to Earth.
Hector Hammond, who has used his super intellect to escape from prison, wants to get at these meteors and so uses his super-mind to take control of scientists at the science institute to bring them to him. When he finds that Green Lantern has put force fields around them, he decides to bring Green Lantern to him by using his will-power to control Green Lantern's power ring.
Forcing Green Lantern to come to him by taking control of his power ring, Hammond hopes to use the power ring to unleash the meteors gasses so that they can enable him to move once more. However, after the first two meteors are freed from their force fields, Hammond decides he wants to be wearing the power ring when he frees the third meteor. Commanding the power ring to come off, it suddenly stops obeying his commands. Green Lantern tells Hammond that he became wise to the fact that he was being manipulated to find those meteors and so commanded his power ring to lose it's 24 hour charge if someone with a greater willpower commanded it to leave his finger. Lantern then knocks out Hammond easily and turns him back over to the police. Later he joins Carol at the Charity bazaar.
