Green Lantern (Volume 2) with a cover date of December, 1963.
Synopsis for "War of the Weapon Wizards!"
Having faked Green Lantern into believing that he had deadened the parts of his brain that give him his super mind, Hector Hammond escapes from prison by taking control of one of the prison guards who carried him out. He then frees Sonar to use him as a pawn to get revenge on the Green Lantern. In order to determine the best way to beat Green Lantern, Hector plans to put together the intended scenario: Using his subconscious powers to switch Green Lantern and Sonar's weapons, into Green Lantern's mind so that he can learn how the Green Lantern would win in a battle. With this, he can come up with a better plan to destroy his enemy that will work.
When this happens, Green Lantern is the guest of honor at the Ferris Aircraft Company picnic and he has just learned that Carol had secretly entered in Hal Jordan as her partner in the three legged race, causing quite the problem for his secret identity, but he is suddenly hit with Hammond's mind probe.
Plunged into an imaginary battle with Sonar in which their weapons are switched, Green Lantern manages to use Sonar's sonic gun to immobilize Sonar long enough to take his ring back.
Snapping out of his daydream, there are sudden reports of the real Sonar attacking Coast City. To cover for Hal Jordan's absence, Hal uses his power ring in order to change Pieface to appear as Hal Jordan to cover for him while he fights Sonar. This time around when the weapons are switched, Hector implants and idea into Sonar's mind to trap Green Lantern in an emerald box and take him out into space to die. Green Lantern however gets out of this trap by turning the sonic gun on himself and making himself vibrate enough to pass through the box.
Using the sonic gun to make a waterspout incapacitate Sonar, Green Lantern recovers his ring and turns the defeated Sonar back over to he police. The frustrated Hammond vows to try as many times as it takes to destroy the Green Lantern. Green Lantern returns to the Ferris Aircraft Company picnic to learn that "Hal Jordan" had helped Carol win the three legged race. Awarding them the Loving Cup, Green Lantern is actually jealous when he sees Carol kiss "Hal Jordan".
