Green Lantern (Volume 3) #44 is an issue of the series Green Lantern (Volume 3) with a cover date of August, 1993.

Synopsis for "Urban Renewal"

Green Lantern arrives on Maltus just in time to see the Triarch start the terraforming process. Hal questions what their purpose is, and Archor replies that they mean to make Maltus a "home fit for gods." Tzodar then hurls Green Lantern away, saying they don't owe him any explanations.

On the ground, Green Lantern speaks to the Maltusians, who want the Triarch to succeed to relieve them from their suffering. Shortly after, Hal finds the presence of the L.E.G.I.O.N. engaging against the gods, and Green Lantern joins the fight. Vril Dox shows the ancient coin he found among the ruins and asks a Maltusian to translate it. Upon reading the inscription, the religious Maltusian starts to panic and refuses to answer him.

Meanwhile, on Earth, Tom Kalmaku and Carol Ferris discuss a mysterious Crosswind Corporation that has stocks on Hal's Air-Taxi business and Ferris Aircraft. The intriguing part is that people investigating that company have disappeared. Carol has some link to that corporation because of a trust fund her father left her before dying. Tom's questioning makes her feel like he is accusing her, so she kicks him out of her room. On his own, Tom continues investigating Carl Ferris's death.

Back on Maltus, the Triarch overpowers Green Lantern, but Lobo arrives and saves him before they kill him. After taking him away, Vril Dox warns the Green Lantern to get out of the way and let the L.E.G.I.O.N. handle the situation.
