- I just pointed you in the right direction, Kyle. You walked the path by yourself. It's your time now. Your turn to carry the torch.
Green Lantern (Volume 3) #78 is an issue of the series Green Lantern (Volume 3) with a cover date of September, 1996.
Synopsis for "A Beginning"
Green Lantern saves a speeding train from derailing and then visits John Stewart at the hospital. John says he might not walk again due to his nervous system burning out during his fight against Grayven. Kyle thanks John for teaching him how to be a Green Lantern and then heads off to another appointment.
Back on the streets, Kyle takes care of more super-heroics and then returns to his apartment to charge his ring. As he leaves, the Battery starts to glow with yellow energy.
Although late, Kyle arrives at his appointment with Donna. Donna wants to define what to do with her life after walking out of the Darkstars and the Titans. After a long walk and chat, Kyle reassures his love for Donna by creating a heart-shaped collar from his ring energy, saying that as long as he believes in their relationship, the jewel will never fade away. Donna accepts his gift and words, and they reignite their love for each other.

Notes
- This issue is reprinted in DC Retroactive: Green Lantern - The '90s #1.
- On page 13, Radu is holding a cup that sports the new logo for his coffee shop, making this the first appearance of the logo in the ongoing Green Lantern series. Kyle designed the logo at the beginning of Green Lantern Silver Surfer: Unholy Alliances #1, which is arguably in continuity with the ongoing series.
