Green Lantern (Volume 3) with a cover date of July, 1997.
Synopsis for "...Go Home Again"
Kyle Rayner visits the grave of his dead girlfriend Alex. He thinks about the time he shared with her, but also talks about his new girlfriend Donna who actually has accompanied to the graveyard because both of them want to visit Kyle's mother later. The emotional situation is interrupted though by Alex' sister, Aimee DeWitt, who first curses at Kyle for not being at the funeral and then even slaps him in the face. After Aimee leaves, Kyle changes into Green Lantern and pick up Donna to fly to his mother's house.
Kyle warns Donna that the relationship with his mother is not the best. But as he sees some smoke from afar, Green Lantern immediately flies to the point of the fire's origin which is S.T.A.R. Labs. Kyle goes to work and saves the staff, including one Dr. Hollins who talks about an A.I. project which obviously went wrong.
A little later, Kyle and Donna arrive at the house of his mother Maura Rayner. Kyle is shocked as his mother asks for his costume. She figured out pretty fast that her son has become the new Green Lantern. Although she seems to be fine with it, she is angry because she hates secrets being kept from her. As Kyle tells her that he even searched for his father, Maura gets even more upset. Disappointed by her reaction, Kyle leaves the house followed by Donna. She tries to calm him down, but Kyle has the feeling that nothing has changed between him and his mother.
In the meantime, the A.I. from S.T.A.R. Labs uses several machine parts to build itself a body. It calls itself the Machine Messiah and is intent to rule the world ...
