Synopsis for "Civil Corps I: World War"

Thanagar stands broken. In his last moments of life, Thaaros has ordered Mogo, possessed by the red light of rage, to destroy the entire planet, along with his enemies. The Green Lanterns of Earth worked hard to save as many as they could, but only a thousand survived. A Rannian ship carrying the survivors attempts to escape from the system with a zeta-beam, but its thrusters are damaged and the United Planets forces are gaining on them. Hal tells Carol to help the Rannians repair their ship while he and John attempt to draw Mogo's fire.

The Durlans have returned to their flagship and try to capitalize on the advantage Mogo has given them by destroying the survivors. Although Thaaros is dead, the Durlans intend to continue his experiments with the emotional spectrum to expand their control of the Lanterns across the universe, and for that, they will use Keli Quintela, the human girl captured by Thaaros. She was able to develop technology that could harness emotional energy without help from the Guardians and that's why Thaaros ordered her capture. Soon, the United Planets will arrive on the system and destroy any evidence of the Durlans' wrongdoing. Unbeknownst to the Durlans, however, Thaaros still lives, preserved by the Darkstar ring.

Little do the Durlans know, however, is that Keli will soon try to escape their control. In an otherworldly plane, Keli is visited by Ellie, who wants to help her escape from the Durlans' imprisonment.

Carol flies deep into the Rannian ship's engine room and focuses her power into fixing the ship's propulsion unit. She theorizes that if power rings can generate energy, they can also manipulate and redirect it. She quickly restores power to the propulsion unit and the ship gets ready to escape to Rann.

Hal and John confront an entire fleet of UP Lanterns, and the fight becomes harder when Starshroud gets involved. Luckily, the Lanterns weren't trying to hold Starshroud off, just distract him long enough for the survivors to escape to Rann. Hal and John return to Oa so they can save their friends and plan their next move. Frustrated to have lost his prey, Starshroud returns to the Durlan flagship and orders the Durlans to follow the Lanterns. Initially, he wanted his body restored, but now he wants revenge. The Durlans chart a course to Oa, followed by the corrupted Thaaros.

Back on Oa, Guy and Sheperd have managed to rescue their imprisoned friends while Larfleeze still wreaks havoc on the Sciencells. Meanwhile, the Rannians' escape is interrupted is interrupted by a mysterious violet creature, a symbol of the Star Sapphire Corps.
