Synopsis for "Nice Guys Finish First"

A month ago, officers from the Coast City police department had arrived at downtown Coast City to address a call about a fight between superhumans. In that moment, new supervillain Steel Fury crashes right in front of them, completely unconscious. Hal has already incapacitated him. Somehow, Hal had absorbed the Oan energy from Steel Fury's Manhunter armor and formed a ring out of sheer willpower. Hal doesn't care about how it happened. The only thing that matters to him is that he is flying again.

Hal decides to test his ring out and detects the Demolition Team breaking into a graveyard. Knowing that the Demolition Team will bulldoze everything in sight if he scares them, Hal decides to take a subtler approach. With his ring, he makes green, flaming constructs of zombies and ghosts, which scares the Demolition Team into surrendering to the police. Pleased that his ring is working properly, Hal now wants to verify how fast this ring can fly, so he attempts to fly into low orbit. Unfortunately, his ring runs out of power and Hal is left to fall to the planet below.

In the present, Hal returns to his trailer, unhappy that he just ruined his first day at work. There, he finds Kilowog already waiting for him with a bottle of soda. As they drink together, Hal admits that he is starting to think that quitting from the Green Lantern Corps was a mistake and that, instead, he should have tried to reason with the United Planets. The only thing he knows what to do with his life, aside from being a Green Lantern, is being a pilot and that doesn't seem to be that important anymore on Earth.

Kilowog tells him to stop feeling sorry for himself and to focus his energy into overcoming his newest challenge. Of all the ring-slingers he has seen in the Corps, Kilowog has never seen someone as special as Hal. If he can convert Manhunter energy into a new ring, then Hal might be able to find a new purpose in life. Hal is inspired to try again.

The next day, Carol and her boyfriend, Nathan, are ready to enter Ferris Aircraft's private jet for a business trip, they find that Hal has become the jet's first officer. As the crew board the plane and prepare for takeoff, Carol warns Nathan not to trust Hal, but Nathan thinks Carol is just stressed. Hal, always the cocky pilot, watches Carol and Nathan toast with the cockpit's camera, abruptly lifts the plane, causing Nathan's drink to spill over his shirt.

Nathan goes to the bathroom to clean himself and Hal uses his ring to lock Nathan in the bathroom while he talks to Carol. He attempts to get close to Carol after all the time he has left her, but she is reluctant to let him back into his life. Their conservation is cut short, however, when the plane's captain detects unusual activity on the sky. He then calls Hal to the cockpit, as the plane is surrounded by mysterious shadowy creatures.

Synopsis for "Rise of the Revenant Queen, Part Two"

In Universe-0, John stares deep into the sky, until his mother asks for his help in cleaning their garden. As much as John claims otherwise, Shirley suspects John still thinks about his old job and John admits that, as much as he wants these peaceful times to last forever, he can't help but feel that trouble will find him sooner or later.

In another universe, Green Lantern Shepherd fights the Revenant Dead with no assistance. Although Shepherd fights valiantly, he is defeated by the Revenant Queen, who desires revenge against John Stewart, the Green Lantern who crushed her dreams of conquest long ago.

Suddenly, a green flame manifests at the heart of the Green Lanterns' fortress and from it emerges John. Shepherd is surprised, for nobody has seen John in an age and John explains that, after the Green Lanterns' Central Power Battery was destroyed, he became their watchfire to keep the Corps strong. The Revenant Queen acknowledges her old enemy and sends his army after John, who stands alongside Shepherd to fight yet again.
