Synopsis for "The Life and Death of Erastus the Blacksmith"

On the planet Alteon-X, Erastus the Blacksmith led a terrible life. He was abused by the chief of his village and abandoned by his fiance, it would seem that Erastus' life couldn't get any worse, until he was attacked by thieves. His anger and resentment couldn't be contained anymore, so he lashed out and the red light of rage possessed him.

That is until he was found by Hal, who had been tracking manifestations of emotional energy throughout the galaxy. His search had led him to Alteon-X, just in time to defend what was left of a village from Erastus' rampage. He had already found corpses of Erastus' victims, so he knew Erastus needed to be stop. Despite his lack of experience with emotional energy, Erastus proves to be a difficult opponent.

Meanwhile, the Green Lanterns' ship has arrived at the Source Wall. Kyle believes they should wait for Hal to meet them, but Superboy and Odyssey convince them to grab whatever the ship's scanners to pick up, if only so that Kyle stops being so dependent on Hal's orders. The team enters the mouth of one of the Wall's petrified prisoners and Kyle uses his ring to discover that the prisoner is actually a building hide an important object, an orb imbued with Source energy. Odyssey has deduced that the place must be cluttered with traps, so Superboy triggers them all with his super-speed. Unharmed by the traps, he tells Kyle and Odyssey to move forward.

On Alteon-X, Hal continues his fight with Erastus and tries to reason with him, but Erastus is too enraged to listen to anything Hal is to say. Hal believes that he can wear Erastus down until his opponent exhausts all his energy, but the fight lasts longer than he expected. Eventually, Erastus explodes with all the energy he has accumulated and destroys what's left of the village. The only thing Hal can find amidst the wreckage is Erastus' hammer.

Meanwhile, Kyle and his friends have already located the orb. Odyssey detects that removing the orb from its resting place will trigger the building's self-destruct, so the team will have to grab the orb quickly and escape. Superboy takes the orb while Kyle evacuates the trio from the building with his ring, just in time for Starbreaker and the Sorrow Lantern to ambush them.
