Synopsis for "The Name"

The Green Lantern Corps has traveled to the Castle of Desolate Stone, former headquarters of the Starbreaker Corps, to recover the Book of Oa, which Nathan Broome, the Sorrow Lantern, had stolen. Guy and Jo verify the book is undamaged and Guy is surprised to learn that Starbreaker managed to translate some of the book's passages, an impressive feat considering the book was written billions of years ago and in different spectra to protect its secrets. As he flips through the pages, Guy and Jo are surprised to find a new page that only says "Hal Jordan".

On Earth, Hal has captured an alien criminal that tried to terraform the planet to produce a valuable mineral and as punishment, he is taking the criminal on a reckless and dangerous trip around Coast City. The criminal, scared for his life, begs him to stop just as Hal is called to Oa for something that requires his specific attention. Hal agrees to go, but not before taking the criminal, on a scene trip around the Milky Way, much to the perp's discomfort.

In Oa, Kyle has told Superboy and Odyssey that his White Lantern powers had become unstable after his recent battles, so Superboy offers his help in testing those powers. Superboy tells Kyle to hit him with everything he has got, something that Kyle does reluctantly because he does not want to cause serious injury. The blast sends Superboy flying into Oa's stratosphere until he is caught by Hal, who had just finished delivering the criminal to the Sciencells, and Kyle's White Lantern energy is exhausted for the time being.

Hal goes to a chamber containing Jessica and Guy, who shows him the page of the Book of Oa with Hal's name written on it. Suddenly, the book hits Hal with an energy beam and he falls into the floor unconscious. As Hal's friends rush him to the medical bay, one of the Guardians take a look at the Book of Oa. He moves to another room and talks with his fellow Guardians about what happened to Hal. The Guardians believe that the book transferred information to Hal's mind the same way Krona did to the rest of the Guardians. Back when the Guardians exited the Source Lantern, they were missing knowledge about themselves but now that they have regained it, they must ensure that knowledge remains controlled lest everything they and their progenitors have created is done. The Guardians decide that the best course of action is to leave Oa.

Hal awakens at Oa's medbay and Salakk reports that he is in good health. Jessica orders him to return to Earth so he can have time to rest because she believe Hal has been overworking and they still do not know what exactly the Book of Oa did to him. Hal reluctantly accepts and Jessica replies that if the Corps needs him for something, they will let him know.

Meanwhile, Krona, armed with his old gauntlet, has taken refuge in a secret laboratory. He wanted to dismantle the Corps from within by implanting his consciousness in a body similar to that of Hal Jordan, but his new body was damaged during the gestation process, and the Guardians has recovered lost knowledge that only Krona possessed. To salvage his plan, Krona wants to recover that knowledge.

Hal flies back to Earth and reunites with Carol, but when they hold hands, Hal is hit with visions about himself fighting with the Guardians and a mysterious black tower. Once he recovers, Carol gets a message from the Justice League about an emergency at Star City and Hal offers to go in her place. Carol accepts and hopes she and Hal can talk about what has happened between them.
