Synopsis for "Fast Friends"
Hal, still angry with Sinestro over what happened in Korugar, prepares to stab him with a sword construct, but Sinestro has already taken precautions against the Green Lantern. He has planted three sonic bombs all over Coast City and he will detonate them unless Hal gives him the only thing Hal has of worth: his ring. Hal doesn't know why would Sinestro want his ring, but is nonetheless reluctant to give him to Sinestro, for he fears that Sinestro will use it to destroy more than just one city.
Sinestro, briefly losing his composure, tells Hal that he just wants to leave Earth. Hal asks why does he goes to the Legion of Doom for help and Sinestro replies that the United Planets is making space travel on this sector difficult, but he believes the ring will facilitate his departure. Since the United Planets don't take too kindly to Green Lanterns, Sinestro thinks that he'll be keeping Hal away from a cell by taking his ring. Hal gives the ring to Sinestro but claims that Sinestro won't be able to use it, for the ring only works when Hal is using it. Sinestro initially believes that he can break the ring's will, as he has done with so many others, only to discover that Hal is telling the truth.
Disappointed, Sinestro triggers the bombs and gives Hal a choice: capture him or save bystanders. Hal promises Sinestro that he won't get far, especially because he has already called for back-up. Barry Allen, the Flash, is ready to provide assistance. Hal constructs a special shield that senses the bombs' sonic vibrations. Barry picks the shield up and uses it to detect the bombs. He grabs the bombs and throws them in the air, while Hal destroys them. Unfortunately, Sinestro has used the commotion to escape.
Even so, Hal thinks he could use Barry's help to assess the damage done to Ferris Air. With his forensic skills, Barry deduces that Sinestro has acquired technology from new, dangerous partners, but is unable to discover what exactly did he do to the plans in the hangar. Carol, who has been overhearing their conversation, welcomes Barry to Ferris Air and Barry thinks Hal and Carol should go on a double date with him and Iris, until Hal tells him that Carol is engaged to someone else.
She changes the subject and asks about her planes and Barry says that Sinestro left only a tiny marks around the cockpits. Hal mentions that Sinestro wanted his ring to leave the Earth, but he was unable to use it because the ring only works with Hal. As Carol leaves, Barry suggests that she call Mr. Terrific for help in fixing her planes. Barry gets a report from his communicator that a supervillain is attacking Los Angeles and Hal agrees to help him.
As soon as they arrive at Los Angeles, they discover Major Disaster to be the perpetrator. Barry dissipates a tornado hitting the streets, while Hal destroys three metors with a baseball construct before the two heroes incapacitate Major Disaster. While Major Disaster gets taken in, Barry and Hal sit on a rooftop. He asks Hal why did he let someone else hook up with Carol and Hal says that he has been away from Earth for too long that she just moved on with her life. As much as he still loves her, he can't bring herself to make a move on her. Barry tells Hal that, instead of worrying about what could happen in the future, he should focus his willpower on finding someone he can share his life with. Carol might not be that person, but he can still be her friend. Hal agrees and Barry returns to his dinner with Iris.
Meanwhile, the brand-new jets at Ferris Air, the ones that were sabotaged by Sinestro, suddenly turn on and take off on their own.

Synopsis for "Wayward Son: Part One"
Deep in the bowels of planet Xela, a purple-skinned boy named Korg furiously works on his newest device, a weapon that he believes can make him as feared as Sinestro. His abusive boss, Nagaf, tells Korg that he is behind his monthly payment for their subterranean collective, but Korg angrily replies that whatever creds Korg brings in are selfishly hoarded by Nagaf himself.
Korg sneaks out of his collective's hideout and climbs onto a rooftop, where he observes a casino occupied by Xela's rich and wealthy. He decides to rob it by using his weapon, an electric knuckle-duster that he calls the "fear fist". He fights multiple guards and grabs a cred case before his fear fist runs out of power. He gets injured during the robbery and the case gets damaged, but Korg escapes to his hideout, only to be reprimanded by Nagaf for letting the credits get damaged.
Nagaf angrily demands that Korg stops pretending to be someone he is not, but Korg already knows who he wants to be. He wants to be the son of Thaal Sinestro and he will get his blood to prove it.
