Grim Reaper was the literal personification of Death in the DC Universe. He meets with the recently deceased and guides them into their new existence. Usually he is depicted as a middle aged man or a skeleton, either in military garb or more traditional Grim Reaper style clothing. Since Sandman (Volume 2) #8, Death is presented as a plucky black-haired girl who belongs to a family of immortal beings known as the Endless.
