Grymhild is a Valkyrie, a Norse warrior woman and water spirit who brings slain heroes to Valhalla. She is sworn to defend the Rhine Sister, sister to the Lady of the Lake.
History
When Aquaman and Tempest came to the Rhine River to protect the Rhine Sister from the Thirst, Grymhild and Brynhild lead them to her. As the Thirst attacks and discovers the Rhinegold, the one thing protecting the river, the Rhine Sister gave the Valkyries the option to lay down their weapons, but Grymhild and Brynhild refused.[1] The two Valkyrie fought the Thirst's forces as well as Black Manta when he surfaced.[2]
With the Rhine Sister dead, and the Valkyries disbanded, Grymhild and Brynhild accompanied Aquaman aboard a newly reformed Black Manta's sub. The three ventured into the Secret Sea, where they saw the Valkyries once more sparing in a New Valhalla. They chose to continue on with Aquaman as they pursued the Thirst to Australia.
Grymhild and Brynhild boarded the Thirst's ship, but were unable to escape as it was swallowed by the Rainbow Serpent, suffering severe wounds. Aquaman found them among the rubble and healed them. They followed the Moon River in the Rainbow Serpent's stomach, but Grymhild and Brynhild were turned to the Thirst's undead army.[3]
With Aquaman's eventual triumph over the Thirst, the Rhine Sister, Grymhild and Brynhild were all restored to full life.[4]
