Javelin (real name Gunter Braun) was a suave and cocky member of the Suicide Squad with great javelin-throwing skills. He was part of the team sent to Corto Maltese to destroy Project Starfish, and while passed on his legacy to his teammate Harley Quinn.
History
Origins
Gunter Braun became very skilled at javelin-throwing, and decided to use this skill in crimes, becoming the serial killer and criminal known as Javelin. He was apprehended and incarcerated in the Belle Reve Correctional Center, where he became a member of the Suicide Squad (officially Task Force X) in exchange for time off his sentence.[1]
The Corto Maltese Mission

In 2021, he was put on a team lead by Colonel Rick Flag and sent on a mission to the island of Corto Maltese to destroy evidence of the U.S. government's involvement in the dangerous Project Starfish, but unbeknownst to the team themselves, they were merely intended as the distraction for the Corto Maltese Army by the team's director, Amanda Waller, so that the primary strike team could properly invade and perform the mission.
On the helicopter ride over to the island, Javelin struck up a connection with his teammate Harley Quinn, with the flirtatious Braun becoming infatuated with her, and Harley seemingly having similar feelings. Upon arriving on the Maltese shores, the Force was indeed ambushed by the army, who had been alerted of their presence by treacherous teammate Blackguard. The team attempted to fight back, but were all slaughtered by Maltese forces. In Javelin's case, he was shot in the chest several times as he attempted to throw his javelin at some soldiers.
Passing on his legacy
As he lay on the beach bleeding out, Harley ran to take cover behind the rock he was under. With his dying breaths, Javelin proclaimed that Harley was the only one worthy to carry his javelin, which he weakly handed to her. He started to tell her to carry it for someone (likely himself), but he succumbed to his wounds and died before he could finish.[1]

Gunter Braun's death was not in vain, however. Harley took his javelin with her, and used it as her primary weapon throughout the rest of the mission, slaughtering several soldiers who would do her and her friends harm, all while trying to figure out what Javelin wanted her to carry it for. She eventually used it to allow her teammates to kill the released Project Starfish, stopping it from wreaking havoc on Corto Maltese, and potentially the world.[1]
