Synopsis for "The Battle From Within"
Guy Gardner loses control of his powers, and Buck Wargo runs some analysis on him. Buck finds out how to work the Virtual-Reality Inducer, and Guy meets Cardone of Vuldar again, whom he met when he drank the Water of Warriors. Guy goes through another "history lesson" as Cardone sends his consciousness to experience past events on Vuldar.
In these induced memories, Guy meets the Vuldarians Mandarr and Fellena, who are escaping from parasitic Leechuns. After getting rid of a group of Leechun hunters, the Vuldarians find a cave to take refuge. Mandarr leaves Guy and Fellena alone while he investigates on his own. Meanwhile, Guy and Fellena share an intimate and passionate moment in the cave. Fellena also teaches him to accept his Vuldarian side and control his powers.
However, Guy starts to lose control again when Mandarr warns them about Leechuns and Tormocks in the vicinity. The group splits, and Guy ends up alone, crawling in pain through the forest. Unfortunately, the sadistic Harkkun finds Mandarr and Fellena, and Guy watches as the Tormock kills them. The rage caused by seeing their death causes Guy to embrace his Vuldarian side and be in full control of his abilities, and he exterminates the Leechuns. Guy confronts Harkkun himself and rips him apart.
After the massacre is over, Guy finds Cardone again, who explains that what he just experienced was Cardone's memories from centuries ago. Cardone also reveals he is Guy's Vuldarian ancestor. With the knowledge and experience he gained, Guy is now ready to embrace his heritage as a human and Vuldarian warrior.
