Guy Gardner (Absolute Universe)

Guy Gardner was the sheriff of the small town Evergreen, Nevada and a friend of Jo Mullein and Hal Jordan.

Jo Mullein worked as a deputy in the Evergreen Sheriff's Department until she moved to Coast City. When she returned to town after her divorce Guy offered her her job back but she refused due to a personal issue between them.

On a day seemingly like any other a starshp in the shape of a giant Green Lantern, appeared in the sky over Evergreen and surrounded the town with a force field.[1] The pilot, a huge four-armed alien, beamed down to the surface and the entire town turned out to see what was happening. The alien announced that he was Abin Sur and that he existed at the "Green Level of Light"; and ordered the people of Evergreen to "be without fear". Guy approached Abin Sur and said that he was the authority in Evergreen. Abin Sur summoned green energy in his hand and levelled it at Guy, saying that judgement would commence. Guy and his two deputies Ron and Rita interpreted this as a threat and drew their weapons, while Abin Sur calmly told Guy that he did not exist in the "Spectrum of Light" and once again instructed him to be without fear. Jo Mullein was able to convince Guy to stand down, telling him that they didn't know what Abin Sur wanted and not to escalate things. After a tense moment, Guy holstered his gun and ordered the deputies to do the same, then asked Abin Sur to tell them what he wanted. For a moment the townspeople breathed a sigh of relief, and some even began applauding, but Abin Sur then suddenly obliterated Guy with a blast of energy.[2]
