Guy Gardner #1 is an issue of the series Guy Gardner (Volume 1) with a cover date of October, 1992.
Synopsis for "A New Guy in Town"
Guy Gardner returns to the streets of Times Square to declare "war on scum," leveling an entire block of residential buildings. This brings unwanted attention toward the Justice League, and after arguing with Superman and Ice, Guy leaves.
In the middle of a crowd on the streets, Guy meets Bucky Sharp, who offers to work as his press agent to make him the "most respected hero in the world." The idea of earning money from his heroic deeds tempts Gardner, and he accepts.
Meanwhile, Superman calls Hal Jordan to inform him of Guy's situation, and Hal, in turn, calls the Guardians to send Kilowog to reason with him.
Later that day, the former (fake) Green Lanterns Thoom, Boom, and Buk-50 attack Guy's apartment building. Gardner comes down to the street and beats them, but his ring suddenly runs out of power. While Guy stands powerless and clueless about how to recharge it, his attackers get up and jump at him for round two.
