Synopsis for "What's a Guy to Do?"

Powerless due to his empty power ring, Guy Gardner fends off against his attackers, Boom, Thoom, and Buk-50. Eventually, Gardner escapes the fight, and Kilowog finds him. Kilowog explains that the Guardians sent him to take Gardner's ring. But Guy plays on Kilowog's sentimental side and says that it's just a powerless trinket, his only memento of that "precious moment when he was a hero again." Moved by his friend's sentiments, Kilowog leaves him be.

After Kilowog departs, the attackers find Guy again to resume their fight. However, his ring suddenly activates and shoots a burst of energy against them. After defeating them again, Guy asks his ring why it turns on and off, but it replies in Korugarian, and Guy can't understand it.

Buk-50 comes out of the rubble and asks Guy to stop attacking, saying he signaled his bosses. Suddenly, Guy gets beamed into a spaceship, where he meets a group of little red-skinned aliens called the Palindrordnilap. They say they intend to create a new interplanetary security firm in the same vein as L.E.G.I.O.N., the Darkstars, and the Bellatrix Bombshells, and they want to recruit Guy Gardner. Still doubting his defective ring, Guy accepts to test his power in combat.
