Guy Gardner #9 is an issue of the series Guy Gardner (Volume 1) with a cover date of June, 1993.

Synopsis for "The Medusa Plague"

The "Gardners of the Universe" recruit Guy to help them investigate a mysterious war on a faraway planet. Upon reaching the alien world, the Palindrordnilap explains that the inhabitants were peaceful people. But now, a devastating conflict broke out between them. A similar scenario repeats in other nearby planets. The entire race of a warlike world had completely perished; an agrarian race developed industry overnight and polluted themselves to death, and another race committed mass suicide.

As soon as Guy assumes the leadership of the Palindrordnilap team, the inhabitants attack them. Suddenly, the Green Lantern Boodikka shows up and helps them destroy the attacking robots. Boodikka asks Gardner what he's doing on that planet, but Guy provokes her into a fight. After Boodikka hits Guy, Guy notices that his ring is charged up. He then realizes that his power ring absorbs the power of the Green Lanterns, so he keeps taunting Boodikka to attack him. Suddenly, Guy sees a massive spaceship in the sky, but none of the other people present there seem to be aware of its presence. Immediately, as if possessed, everyone around Guy, including his team and Boodikka, gets ready to kill him.
