Hal Jordan was a member of the United States Green Lantern Marine Corps.

Hal Jordan of Earth-30 was a distinguished fighter pilot in the United States Air Force during the Cold War, described by Lex Luthor as one of the most decorated pilots in military history. During a conflict between the United States and the Soviets in Malaysia in the 1980s, his plane was shot down and he was taken prisoner. For four years, he was incarcerated and tortured by local Communist forces and barely fed to the point that he dropped to a skeletal 90 pounds. After his return he was handpicked by President Lex Luthor in 2001 for Project Codename "Green Light", in which he would lead the newly formed United States Green Lantern Marine Corps in the inevitable conflict between the United States and Superman.
