Halk (Earth-One)

Halk is a famous Martian scientist[1] and friend of Chris KL-99.

Once chief scientist of Mars, Halk exiled himself from Mars after cracking the power crystal that was responsible for the planet's irrigation. With Chris KL-99's help he was able to get another power crystal. [2]


Abilities


  • The Post-Crisis Chris KL-99 origin story in Secret Origins Vol 2 43 makes no mention of Halk or Jero; however, the two can be seen with him in a vision in The Brave and the Bold Vol 3 6. In the Pre-Crisis era, especially during the time the Chris KL-99 stories were written (the 1950s), it was common to assume that the planets in our solar system were inhabited; there was no standard race either. So we have Halk, a Martian who possesses none of the Martian Manhunter's abilities. The best conjecture is to assume that by the time the Chris KL-99 stories take place, at least Mars and Venus, from which Halk and Jero respectively originated, were terraformed and colonized; Both may be from other races that colonized the planets and hold citizenship there, or they may be genetically altered Earth races. The adventures take place in the 21st century, but the exact year is never given, so it could very well be at the end of the century.
