Hardcore Station #1 is an issue of the series Hardcore Station (Volume 1) with a cover date of July, 1998.
Synopsis for "Genesis"
(Flashback, a hundred years ago) Tarsus Deltar is an ambitious and violent alien man with a military and political background. We meet him and his lover Challa pursuing a General Zhan in what appears to be a quest for a secret place of mystical power; in reality it is a test of sorts from the Nameless, an entity that claims to have expected Tarsus to be the one to succeed in meeting him.
The quest was bloody and traitorous, costing the lives of Challa and Zhan as well as Tarsus' left forearm, but ultimately Tarsus succeeds in activating the mystic portal that brings him to the Nameless in what may be some sort of astral plane, where he rips out Tarsus' heart and claims that Tarsus has lived many previous lives as various alien tyrants, including Latmeer of Rann and Stalin of Earth and that he is destined to promote significant change in the Universe, despite or perhaps because he is a terrible person - in their words, "the ultimate monster".
The Nameless convinces Tarsus to serve him as the temporal leader of his Church. However, they will need some unspecified third being to make their trinity. Tarsus is then changed by the Nameless.
(Current time) Hardcore Station is a hub of commerce between five major commercial districts, owned by Entreplaneteurs Inc. and home to five million beings. Maximillian Deville, or just "Chief Justice Max", is the Chief Justice of the Municipal Central Command on Hardcore Station. He is ruthless yet idealistic. We see him rescue a kid from two armed criminals in the business of stealing and selling organs, and learn that a commercial ship named the "Enigma" is arriving at the station.

Notes
- as the Nameless shows Tarsus Deltar his past lives there is an image of a crucified person reminiscent of Adam Warlock, and close to it, a dtaff that looks a lot like Warlock's Karmic Staff. In addition, one of the images appears to be Joseph Stalin.
