Quote1 There are only two men in this world who ever saw through my facade. And I've loved them both. Jack is gone, but he's with me every day in the twins. I want you to know that I'm still here for you, too. So for this one day only, I, Harley Quinn, am asking Batman: Will you be my valentine? Quote2

Synopsis for "Black, White Knight, and Red"

As Harley's kids show her the Valentine's Day cards she made, she suggests making one for Bruce. As her son struggles with what to write, she suggests writing how much he values him and decides to write a valentine's day card herself after being suggested. After some thinking, she sarcastically wishes a "happy Single Awareness Day' to Bruce and states the day's importance lies in one telling their loved ones how much they mean to them. While her greatest enemy in the past becoming her best friend may sound incredulous, she always knew he could become so one day. The day she realized it was when he first arrested her.

Back when she was robbing an art exhibit with the Joker, the latter threatened the museum guard Stanley to hand over the key to the Clown Diamond, but he stated that only the head guard had the keys. Harley however stopped him when she noticed he was holding him at a knifepoint and suggested they simply rob all the paintings, but Joker stated that they came for the diamond only. He stated he wanted to get it for her and might even have it made into jewellery, including as a ring, which left Harley excited. Joker told her to calm down as he didn't mean an engagement ring and demanded the key from Stanley again.

Harley however had realized that Batman and Robin were monitoring them and tried to tell about it to Joker, but was told to shut up and simply give him his gun. As she struggled to find it, he berated her for taking too long and she explained that his bag contained too many things. Finding it, she hands it to him and Joker prepares to shoot Stanley, stating he was useless since he didn't have the keys. The gun however turns out to be a prank pistol and Batman along with Robin jumps dives toward the criminal duo. Robin however missed his mark and Harley jumped on Batman to free Joker from his grasp. Batman tossed her away but she was able to knock out Robin.

Batman told Joker he knew that he would try to the Clown Diamond and punched him after he tried to pull a gag about not punching a bespectacled person. The delirious Robin soon alerted him to Harley getting away and he soon knocked her to the ground, before making her call off her hyenas if she didn't want them to be killed. Batman told her that she'll be out of Arkham in a week if she displayed good behavior, since she ensured none of the hostages got harmed. Harley however insisted that he was wrong since she was the one who tied them up, but he reveals he knew that she deliberately gave the toy gun to Joker so the two weren't jailed for murder, making her admit he was right.

Batman however told Harley that he still didn't get how she could hear him coming, leading her to state that his tights made a squeaking sound, but he stated that he was being serious since no except her could hear him coming and that what he wore were pants. As she made fun of him, he told her that ones who are the most depressed are the ones who laugh the hardest. As he escorted her to the police car, Batman told her that she was correct when she stated years ago that Joker was comparatively better when she was at his side, though Bruce believed she was better off without him.

Harley writes in her letter that she always was accustomed to people stare at her she passed by, but not to someone actually knowing who she is inside. The only ones who truly knew her were Bruce and the late Joker, but her twins always remind her of him. She states that she'll be always there for him and asks if he'll be her valentine. As she finishes her letter, she gets surprised to find that Renee Montoya and Leslie Thompkins have arrived before their scheduled time. She asks them to look after her kids while she mails their letters, but decides later to not mail her own letter.
