Harvey Dent, Sr. was a Gotham City politician and alcoholic abusive father to his son Harvey Dent, Jr., who later became the supervillain Two-Face.

Harvey Dent, Sr. was a politician in Gotham City with addictions to alcohol and gambling, who would spend his weekends on benders, before returning home and beating his son, Harvey Dent, Jr., using a trick two-tailed coin in his abuse, telling his son that with heads he could go to bed, but with tails the two of them would have "fun". One night, Harvey Jr. would ambush his father and leave him tied up in his home for many days, leading him to be sent away to Arkham Asylum for a summer.[1] While his son was away, Harvey Sr. had a change of heart, and melted his two-tailed coin, turning it into a two-headed coin, and sent it to Jr. as a peace offering.[2] Eventually, Harvey Jr. would become disfigured by an acid attack and form a split personality, becoming the supervillain Two-Face, and Harvey Sr. would marry a woman named Deidre.

Around the time of Harvey Sr.'s 88th birthday, Harvey Jr. seemingly turned over a new leaf, being released from prison and set to return to the position of district attorney under Mayor Chris Nakano. Harvey Jr. became involved in the planning of his father's birthday party, and approached Batman when he received a letter threatening his father's life. Despite Batman and the Batgirls' intervention, Harvey Sr. was poisoned via his birthday cake by Two-Face, which contained an acid that attacked the nerves in his face, much like the incident that scarred Harvey Jr. Appalled by the looks of terror he received, Harvey Sr. would take his own life by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.[3]
