Harvey Pekar (b. October 8, 1939 – d.July 12, 2010) was a writer.
Professional History
Pekar's comics were interdependently self-published for many years.
Personal History
Harvey Pekar was an independent comic strip writer who has produced a series of semi-autobiographical humor strips called American Splendor. Pekar was a life-long native of Cleveland, Ohio. His parents were immigrants from Poland. Aside from writing from his comic he also worked as a filing clerk at a hospital before retiring in 2001. Pekar died in 2010 from an accidental overdose.
