Quote1 It's strange, but when human being are particularly savage, we say they are "like animals." But animals are never willfully savage. They are just hungry, or mad with fear, or enraged. We should say "Oh, how like a human that person is being." But we never do. Quote2

Synopsis for "Godspawn, Conclusion: Into the Dark Aether"

Katar Hol, Naomi Carter, and Shayera Thal watch television reports of the increasing time fluctuations. Naomi is fearful, but Hol tells her that he must deal with the Hawkgod. He intends to draw it to him and confront it. Soon, the Hawkgod appears, and Hol battles it. Mysteriously, Waverider, Hawkman (Carter Hall) and Hawkgirl (Shiera Hall) appear, having been summoned away from a battle between the Justice Society of America and Extant. They join the fight. However, the Hawkgod is too powerful and the battle turns against the heroes. Mongrel suddenly appears expressing guilt over his past actions and wanting to help. He feeds his power into Hol, Hall, and Shiera. The power feeds into the heroes causing a massive explosion which seemingly destroys the Hawkgod and kills the heroes. Thal and Naomi search the area of the explosion hoping to find the heroes. They are shocked to see a single figure emerge from the rubble. It is Hol. Unbeknownst to the others in that moment, he has merged with Hall, Shiera, and all their other Hawk Champions throughout time to become a new Hawkman.
