In the beginning of creation, the energy formed from the manifestation of existence formed into four different stones of immeasurable power that could be used to reshape reality itself if united.

The Heartstones were physical forms of the four fundamental forces of universe; gravity, electromagnetism, strong nuclear force and weak nuclear force.

History

In the beginning of creation, the energy formed from the manifestation of existence formed into four different stones of immeasurable power that could be used to reshape reality itself if united.

Gravity: The green heartstone controls dark matter mass. In the possession of the Spider Guild Emperor it could manipulate the living and dead. It tried to seduce Tigorr and Lianna by confronting them with their deceased friends and family.[1] Felicity became the new host after the Emperor's demise.[2]

Electromagnetism: The blue headstone is the pulse of the universal heart. This found a host in the Maltusian/Zamaron Lianna.[1]

The Weak Nuclear Force: The pink heartstone was described by its A.I. host, Silica, as "a mathematical wind through quantum windmills".[1] The heartstone was removed from Silica and returned to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean from where it was first dredged up. Brainiac claimed it was chipped as a necessity for his studies when, in truth, the shard was used to restore life to Silica.[3]

The Strong Nuclear Force: The orange heartstone harboured the raging, fiery potential that binds all. It was harnessed by Ryand'r of the Omega Men to become Darkfire.[1]

Uniting the four conduits empowered by the heartstones could give one the power of a god, to mould the universe to their whim. Lady Styx almost succeeded, uniting the forces with love.[2] The four aspects became her literal heart, "cosmology as biology" as Brainiac described it. Gravity pulled in matter which was dissolved by the electromagnetic field. It was then reforged in the nuclear furnace and stabilised and distributed by quantum streams.[3]
