Hecate is the goddess of magic, who possessed Wonder Woman and declared war on the world.
History
While an attempt at causing war among the gods failed, Hecate managed to take root in the mind of Wonder Woman. She sought to possess the hero, but the Amazon's will proved too strong. Hecate's minion, Phobos, managed to orchestrate the deaths of Diana's friends and loved ones, causing an emotional response strong enough to give Hecate an opening, taking over the warrior's mind.
With her newfound power, Hecate proceeded to slay the Gods of Olympus, but found their power faded from what it once was. She learned that humanity had new gods, in its superheroes. Pretending to be Diana, Hecate gathered the Amazons of Paradise Island and Bana-Mighdall and declared war on the world of man and its many heroes. The Justice League International and its allies proved no match for Hecate, and despite Diana's protests, she slayed many of them. The heroes only managed to drive her back when the world's most powerful magic casters, aided by the avatars of several godly pantheons, managed to bind her power within Diana's mind. Hecate and her host were imprisoned underneath Themyscira, leaving only Phobos to enact her will on the world.
