Synopsis for "Riding the Green Lanes"
In 1642 England, at the Battle of Edgehill, Lord Essex was facing the king's army and one man named Ramsay had suspected that he saw a witch, which Essex refuted by notifying him that it was Prince Rupert's ally.
At present-day, England, John Constantine was at a bar, smoking a cigarette and reading a newspaper when his friend Rich Eldridge came in with his wife Michelle Hanson and daughter Syder. Rich told John that he would be organizing a "worldwide punk fest rave." In a flashback, in 1980, John was with Mucous Membrane at a club in Camden called The Electric Banana. Rich's band, The Fatal Gift, got into a fight with Mucous Membrane at the club. Back at the club, John and Rich continued to drink until Syder punched the former in the nose. Later, John went to Rich's and Michelle's house and at 2:00 A.M., where Rich told John that things have been hard since the Criminal Justice Bill was passed. Then, Rich told John that he would be going to Edgehill in the Midlands.
In a flashback, in late 1978, Rich, John, and a person named Deanie were in Edgehill. They rode bikes and camped outside. As John and Rich stayed at the campsite and drunk, Deanie drove his bike out of their reach and they never saw him again. They took the train to Paddington the next day. In the present, Rich implied that Deanie still could have been riding his bike to that day. However, Deanie actually ended up in 1642 England and was mistaken for a witch. Later, John, Rich, and the latter's family went to Kineton in the Midlands where they also saw protestors outside. At that moment, John saw a vision of the Battle of Edgehill in the area. Back in 1642, Ramsay was talking to Lord Essex about the "witch" that he and the men had seen. Meanwhile, Lord Lindsay was dying on the battlefield. The soldiers were chasing the "witch" as he ran away and encountered John. Eventually, John and Deanie rode past the battling soldiers with the former returning to the present. Suddenly, Syder saw the ghost of Deanie's bicycle.
