- Darkness Manipulation: Bete-Noire is connected to the same shadow force that the Shade is connected to.[1]

- Shadow Dependency: If Bete-Noire's shadow existence is separated, like with the use of a spell, he will have to put himself back together, which Shade estimated would take months to accomplish.[1]
Notes
- Bete-Noire was created by James Robinson and Brett Booth, first appearing in Justice League of America (Volume 2) #54. However, Bete-Noire first appeared as part of Prime Earth continuity in The Shade (Volume 2) #2 by James Robinson and Cully Hamner.
