Hercules is one of the benefactors of Captain Marvel.

The World's strongest man in Ancient Times, Hercules performed the Twelve Labours to atone for the killing of his wife Megara and his sons in fit of rage.[1]

  • Immortality: Hercules is immortal and ceased to physically age after adulthood. Although he is half-mortal, he benefits from nearly all of the same gifts possessed by the Gods of Mount Olympus.
  • Superhuman Strength: Hercules possesses a strength level far in excess to normal human beings. Although the full limits of his strength level are unknown, it is believed that Hercules is one of the strongest beings on the planet Earth.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Hercules can sustain prolonged physical activity without tiring. This proved vital to him during the fabled Twelve Labours of Hercules.
  • Power Distribution: Hercules can bestow a portion of his strength to mortal beings. When young Billy Batson speaks the magic word "Shazam", he inherits strength from Hercules transforming him into Earth's mightiest mortal - Captain Marvel.

  • This character or object is an adaptation of Hercules, a character or object in traditional stories. These include, but may not be limited to religious texts, myth, and/or folk lore. More information on the original can be found at Wikipedia.org.
  • While Hercules was mentioned quite often in Captain Marvel stories (as one of the sources of Cap's powers) starting in Whiz Comics #2 in February 1940, he didn't appear in an Earth-S story until the Kid Eternity story in Hit Comics #25 in December 1942.
