During a war with humanity, Themyscira was bombarded with nuclear weapons. This could not kill the Amazons, but the radiation was able to change and mutate them. Queen Hippolyta, her legs now replaced with a monstrous serpent's tail, led the mutated "Haedra" Amazons in a campaign against what was left of humanity, until she was stopped by the return of her daughter, Diana.
