Hope Springs, formerly Desolation, was a town in West Virginia.
History
Desolation was a small mining town. Its citizens were living under the iron fist of land baron Slapper Soames and his former Nazi war criminal guards.
However, fortune would smile on the oppressed citizens in the form of superheroes Green Arrow and Green Lantern, who were cross-country travelling with a Guardian. The heroes helped a group of miners take down Soames and his Nazi thugs.[1]
Later at some point, the town's name was changed to Hope Springs, and it was scooped up by an insane Guardian and placed on Oa [2].
A few years later, the town was re-branded again, going back to the name Desolation. The town prospered, and its inhabitants specialized in damage compensation lawsuits - starting way back when the local mining company was sued.[3]
