The House of El is the the last family of Krypton and the royal family of the Lands of El. They rule over the former kingdom of the Waynes.

History

The Els escaped the destruction of their planet and landed in the lands of King Thomas. Their arrival was prophesised by a young peasant boy named John Constantine in the neighbouring Kingdom of Storms, citing their arrival as the beggining of the end. Jor-El pleaded with the knights who had come to investigate their crash site but they didn't listen and instead attacked, and so Jor-El burned them all with his heat vision. Alongside him in the escape pod was his wife Lara Lor-Van who was pregnant with their first child, Kal-El.

A short while after they settled the Els noticed a volcano was going to erupt and tried to get this information to the Waynes. This information was rejected by the jealous advisor, Lex Luthor and for this he was fired from his position while the Els raced to save the kingdom from destruction. After this event they were seen as heroes and became close with the Royal Court.^[1] Over the years the Els had another child, a daughter named Zala; and worked closely with King Thomas and his wife, Queen Martha, becoming trusted advisors and very powerful figures. Jor-El and Queen Martha had a brief affair and conceived a son, Bruce. To hide their affair the father publicly remained unknown but he was acknowledged as a bastard of Queen Martha. After the death of Thomas and Martha at the hands of Lex, now imbued with the power of a magic ring, the El's reluctantly took the throne as the last wish of Martha until Bruce is accepted. Jor-El, now King, began a crusade against magic users, believing them to be spies sent by the Kingdom of Storms.^[2]

King Jefferson of the Kingdom of Storms remained wary of these aliens, adhering to the prophecy Constantine had given all those years ago. He tasked the Green Man and Oliver with assassinating King Jor-El, which they carried out.^[2] After the death of Jor-El, Queen Lara is now the head of the kingdom.^[3]
