The House of Lobo were an army of violent, psychotic Czarnians aligned with Brainiac.
History
Long ago, Czarnian scientists discovered the secrets of regeneration, allowing every Czarnian to become effectively immortal. With death eliminated, war and violence had become obsolete and Czarnia was poised to become a society built on self-improvement and learning. However, a small minority of Czarnians still wanted to follow the old ways, and these malcontents flocked to General Chacal's banner. They took over the city of Paz and turned it into a playground of violence, strongly resisting any attempts by the authorities to dislodge them.
Some suggested simply leaving Bad Blood to their orgy of destruction, as they showed no ambition to expand their territory, but General Tribb believed they would be a cancer on the enlightened, pacifistic society they hoped to build. She invited Brainiac to bottle Paz and Bad Blood, and he agreed. Brainiac took Paz and Bad Blood away with him, and the group was expunged from Czarnian history, remembered only as legends. Ironically this meant they survived the extinction of their species wrought by Lobo, Chacal's distant descendant and Czarnia's first murderer in centuries.
Brainiac used Bad Blood as shock troops to destroy any planet with a superpowered population. This eventually brought them to Earth, where they battled the Superman Family. Lobo, who was stranded on Earth, initially aligned with Superman against his kinsmen; believing that he should be the only "last Czarnian". However, Chacal instead offered him a deal: Chacal believed that he had been top dog for too long and needed to step down, but none of his men had what it took to replace him. Chacal told Lobo that he was impressed with his accomplishments and asked Lobo to become the new leader of Bad Blood. His descendant enthusiastically accepted and Chacal renamed the gang the "House of Lobo" in his honour.
They captured Superman and handed him over to Brainiac, who used the combined energy of the Superman Family to give life to the Brainiac Queen. The Queen brutally massacred all of the House of Lobo except Lobo himself, leaving him once again the last Czarnian.
