Synopsis for Dial H for Hero: "The Marauding Moon Man"

Eric Bolton, formerly known as Mr. Thunder, the leader of the Thunderbolt Gang, has escaped from prison and found refuge in one of his old hideouts. Following a chemical explosion during his experiments, he gains lunar powers and becomes Moon Man. He then uses his newfound powers to create havoc in Zenith city in an attempt to get the attention of the heroes who locked him away. In his newest superhero identity as the Hoopster, Robby Reed confronts the Moon Man, but gets distracted saving a crowd of people and lets the "Lunar-tic" escape. Hoopster tracks him to the observatory on Mt. Evans. The henchmen are easily dealt with by Robby's Boxing-Glove Hoops, but when he and the big boss face off, both end up temporarily trapped by each other's gimmicks. Bolton's moon dust beams engulf Hoopster, while Hoopster's binding rings wrap around Bolton. A hurricane hoop blows the dust away, while the full moon empowers Moon Man to break the rings that held him. The lunar villain creates a repelling force which knocks Hoopster back, allowing him to get away once more.

Back home, Robby hears an announcement over the radio about a Moonfire Gem being transported by plane. He knew Eric Bolton wouldn't be able to resist stealing the aptly named gem and uses the H Dial. This time, oddly, he becomes two of his former heroes combined into one, the Mole-Cometeer. He finds Moon Man and his thugs on a hillside, where the gem-transporting plane was currently flying over. It was being drawn down by Moon Man's beam powers, so Robby put himself between the plane and the beam. The plane continues on to its destination, by the Mole-Cometeer was now being drawn down himself! Only one way to get the upper hand, he increases his downward speed which surprises Bolton and his gang. Then with his Mole abilities, he tunnels under the ground and quickly pops back up behind them, quickly subduing Moon Man and his gang.

Synopsis for J'onn J'onzz, Manhunter from Mars: "Thantos - the 3-in-1 Man!"

With Vulture laying low for a while, J'onn J'onzz rejoins his old ally Zook to confront Thantos, a dimensional alien with strange powers, including the ability to split into three forms and vanish. Thantos is in search of rare herbs, as the Manhunter learns when he captures a gang of Earth crooks the villain has allied himself with. J'onzz guesses that Thantos intends to use the herbs to make a mixture that will allow him to return to Earth at any time he wishes, rather than the 12 hours he has left before returning to his home dimension. J'onzz grapples with Thantos, but the villain wrenches free and vanishes. When Zook exclaims that Thantos will be trouble when he comes back, J'onzz displays a pouch of herbs he wrested from Thantos' belt, which were integral to the alien's formula, and says that Thantos won't be coming back.
