House of Mystery (1951) #172

Whenever Robby Reed uses his H-Dial, monsters pop up to battle him. After two of these encounters, Robby sees his friend Jim transforming into a monster at the same time he becomes another hero. He realizes they were born on the same day and might have some kind of unseen connection being affected by the H-Dial. Inspecting his device, Robby finds "the click mechanism's out of kilter". He repairs it, which should keep Jim from changing into a monster whenever Robby dials himself into a superhero.
