Hugh Evans was a member of Task Force X.
History
Hugh Evans was an nuclear scientist along with Jess Bright who were at a Nevada nuclear test site when they accidentally locked five of their fellow colleagues in a blockhouse near ground zero. The two made it out of the bomb's range, but the others were killed. Evans was found comatose. Later, driven by guilt and seeking redemption, Evans joined Task Force X. During one mission in New York City, Task Force X was fighting a mutant pterodactyl (which was sent by the Centre) in which Evans was unfortunately caught in its monstrous jaws. The creature chewed into Evans' thermite grenades, inadvertently causing to blow itself along with Evans.

- This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the comic book stories considered to be set on Earth-21. It is an adaptation of Hugh Evans. The original character was created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru and first appeared in The Brave and the Bold #25.
