Synopsis for "Here Comes Your Man"

Knowing the Order of the Van Helsings' reputation as the most skilled and relentless vampire hunters in the world, Andrew Bennett's companions are reluctant to participate in his plan to break into their castle and take something back from them. With the help of Charles Thompson, they break down the Van Helsings' defences, and begin to tear their enemies apart.

Upon encountering the Van Helsings' second-in-command, Andrew announces that he has only come to talk, warning that he will do what he did to the former leader to him, if he is not satisfied. In response, the former leader appears, having been pieced together after Andrew tore him apart twelve times in a row. Massive and muscular, he poses a much greater threat than before. Still, Andrew is confident.

Meanwhile, Mary Seward, and her companions John and Deborah have come to Bennett's Wood, the land that once belonged to Andrew until he was reported to have died in a carriage accident without an heir and it was given to the people of Glastonbury. Using Native American magic, John attempts to raise a spectral impression of Andrew's death, and see who turned him.

At first, it seems that the magic failed, but then an apparition appears, whom Mary recognizes as Bartholomew, Andrew's former carriage driver. He doesn't remember much - only that the killer had a horrifying face and was impervious to Andrew's weapon. When he realizes that he is dead, and that Mary has summoned him by black magic, he remarks that Lord Bennett - Andrew's father - was right to warn him away from her. This is news to Mary, who thought that Andrew had never got the nerve to tell his father about her. It is then that she realizes that the note he sent her was written after he was turned. Before that, he had always intended to be with her.

While Andrew and his companions make their escape, and head toward the Van Helsings' archives with the vampire hunters' leader chasing them down, Mary and company try to retrace Andrew's steps after the accident, in hopes of finding some clue. They are surprised when what they find is Cain, now a human, just like Mary. Readily, he admits that he is also Andrew's sire.

In the archives, Andrew locates the Egyptian Book of the Dead, which, when opened, reveals a pocket dimension in which the Van Helsings have kept their magical weapons known to kill vampires.

• The zombie Van Helsing from this story launching an attack on Andrew is vaguely reminiscent of the Marvel character, Hulk's attacks.
